The journey of creating “Apophenies” began with the exploration of our intrinsic drive to find patterns in the abstract. Over the past nine months, this concept has been brought to life, culminating in 31 unique oil paintings on canvas, each meticulously crafted using my custom-built plotter.
The process was as much about discovery as it was about creation. Each painting started as a digital seed—a representation of randomness and potential. The plotter, guided by the same code that generated the digital version, translated these seeds onto canvas with oil paint, transforming them into tangible works of art. The result is a series that exists both in the digital and physical realms, each piece a testament to the shared DNA expressed through different mediums.
Completing these paintings over the course of nine months was a meditative process, allowing the concept of Apopheny to unfold organically. It was a balance between control and chaos, where the plotter’s precision met the unpredictable nature of oil paint on canvas. Each piece became a reflection of our collective need to find meaning, to see familiar forms emerge from randomness.
As I conclude this chapter of “Apophenies,” I invite you to engage with these works not just as paintings, but as explorations of perception. Each canvas offers a moment to pause, to reflect, and to witness the patterns that your mind may conjure in the spaces between order and disorder.
